Sunday School
We believe that Sunday School is not just for children. We have age appropriate classes for toddlers through seniors. We encourage everyone to come, be challenged and to grow in their faith!
Adult Sunday School
Our adult class covers an array of every day issues believers face. This class serves to provide scriptural guidance in spiritual, social, medical, political, and financial concerns. Students participate in this class by looking up scriptures and discussing the topic in small groups.
High School
Our high-school Sunday school class focuses on teaching fundamental truths about God to teens. We strive to relate to the teens by introducing these truths using contemporary topics.
The high-school class encourages student participation and discussion, enabling the teens to interact and form closer relationships. There is a prayer time before and after class to allow the students to submit their prayer requests and to pray in a class setting. Attending this class enables each teen to strengthen his or her walk with Christ.
Young Teens
This class is designed to reach middle school students who are eager enough to come to Sunday School at 9:30 in the morning! Our purpose is to help these young teens to grow in knowledge by reading and discussing God’s Word. The lessons teach the students what the Bible has to say about everyday issues that they face, such as emotions, family, etc. We emphasize the importance of prayer and reading God’s Word in class while discussing these areas of a teen’s life.
Usually the teacher starts out with discussion among the students as to what happened during their week. He then shares humorous stories about his week to capture the students’ attention. The students discuss what they know about the topic, and then the lesson is taught paying close attention to remian on the teens’ level and to stay connected with them.
After teaching the lesson, one or two students repeat back the main points of the lesson in order to make sure they understand. The teacher is sometimes able to share personal experiences relating to the topic providing “real-life” examples to them.
The last minutes of the class are spent taking prayer requests, closing in prayer, and letting the students talk about whatever is going on in their lives. This keeps the teacher informed as to the types of issues the young teens have and gives him insight on how to pray for them.
Middlers’ Class
The Middlers’ Class has students from third through fifth grade. The student’s have elected to call themselves “His Kids” because they are learning so much about God. The class follows the Radiant Life Curriculum. Each class focuses on a particular Bible Story and lesson. The teacher lets the students take turns reading the lesson in their hand-outs. They students discuss the lesson and then complete the exercises in their handouts. Some of the older children help the younger ones if they finish early. Each student also has an opportunity to recite the related scripture given for the lesson, and earns a sticker for the scripture chart that the teacher maintains.
A time is provided for the children to submit prayer requests and to pray. The children end the class time with the Lord’s Prayer.
Little Leaders
This class is for children ages 4 through 1st grade. Each week the class is focused on one particular Bible story. The teacher utilizes felt board, crafts, drawing/coloring, and story telling to help the children understand the story. The kids have a lot of fun learning these stories and beginning to understand who God is and that he want to have a relationship with them. The class follows the Radiant Life Curriculum.
Toddlers’ Class
Because of the varying ages (four and under) of our children, we keep our toddler’s Sunday school class loosely structured. The structure of this class will usually include a time to play, a time to sing songs, and a time to read stories. The teacher also uses a felt board with Bible characters to help the children relate to the stories being read. These stories are discussed with the children to assure that they understand. |
